Golden Diner in Chinatown, New York City
A random find in Chinatown. I was looking for a diner since I’m in my diner era, and this one came up. I quickly Googled where we could eat before we took off, and then when we landed, I mapped it out, and we took the bus and train down to Chinatown directly from the airport. The luxury of travelling with only a backpack this trip.
As it turns out, this diner is a little more highbrow than we expected, with a one-and-a-half-hour wait, and once we got in, the folks next to us said they had waited a month for reservations. We took the opportunity to walk around Chinatown on this lovely, crisp day. It was well worth the effort and we got to explore a part of NYC that we haven’t visited in a very very long time.
Kimchi Tomato Soup
I’m not a soup guy normally but it felt right in this crisp weather. It’s was f’ing fantastic. Subtle kimchi flavour and so tasty. Even Brad, who doesn’t like Kimchi said it was good.
Matzo Ball Soup
Even though Brad prefers his balls hard, this soft ball did the job. Brad: it was flavourful.
Korean Fried Chicken
I haven’t had chicken this crispy and meaty since the first time I had Korean Fried Chicken with our friend Gabe in NYC sometime before 2009.
Katsu Club
Wow wow wow. Soft bread and warm katsu with just the right amount of mayo.
