Prime Seafood Palace in Toronto

Prime Seafood Palace in Toronto

Another visit to a Matty Matheson restaurant, after visiting Rizzo’s House of Parm it was time to check out the meat (and seafood) at the Palace.

The interior of the restaurant is stunning. A light wood with a two, maybe three storey vaulted ceiling with brass and wood everywhere. A very nordic feel and I loved it. We were seated in a half booth which allowed us to man spread… and spread the dishes of food in front of us. We opted to eat family style which is recommended.

Loved this steak knife.

The bathroom was also amazing, there are three downstairs but the accessible bathroom is where it’s at.

The service, which seems to be always stellar at a Matheson restaurant was fantastic. Our server and other staff we encountered were knowledgeable, friendly, and a delight.

And now onto the food…

Appetizers

Tuna Tartare, Daikon, Wasabi, Sesame & Chili Crackers

Perfectly acidic and delicious.

Palace Seafood Cocktail

Damn. I was thrown by mussels, I’m not a fan, but I licked up every bit of all the seafood and even had seconds. But I still won’t ever order mussels.

Palace Bacon

Who doesn’t love a sweet pork belly? Probably a vegetarian. But it was sweet fatty deliciousness.

Main Course

After we were explained the different types of meat offered, we made our selections to share.

Honeynut Squash, Tobiko, Hazelnut

Nutty goodness.

Savoy Cabbage, BBQ Chicken Skin

Does it count as a vegetable if it is mixed with chicken skin?

Palace Potatoes with Aioli, Chili

26 layers of potato layers soft but crispy fried in duck fat.

Yorkshire Pudding

How could we say no?

Norfolk Tomahawk Steak

Tender and delicious and a whole lotta meat. None went to waste.

Palace Cut Prime Rib

Chunks of tender fatty goodness.

Dessert

I like dessert but I can take it or leave it. In this case, I am so glad we almost got one of everything. I’m not a chocolate cake fan, I’ll eat it but I would never order it, but man, this chocolate cake was so damn good.

Key Lime Pie

The pie and the crust was so damn good and look how pretty it is?

Neapolitian Ice Cream

Milkbread ice cream, peach sorbet, and chocolate sorbet.

Maple Tart with Brie

Yes, that is a chunk of cheese under a drizzle of maple syrup on top of a maple tart. Sounds strange but really freaking good.

Chocolate Cake

I would never order on my own, but this is probably the best chocolate cake I have had and probably ever will. Not to sweet, deliciously moist and I kept on going back for more.
