Rome. Sort Of.

Rome. Sort Of.

Civitavecchia, Italy

Today we are near Rome, about an hour and a half from the city at the port city, Civitavecchia. Since we have already visited Rome, we decided on a relaxed day on ship with a three hour spa visit.

The spa includes cold plunge, hot tubs, a mudroom, a salt room, hot wet and dry saunas, and warming stones for quiet relaxation. I am really looking forward to it.

After breakfast, we enjoyed a short walk around the ship and discovered it was completely empty, which felt wonderful.

In my defence, the next three stops will be in Italy so I will be eating from the mainland.

When In Rome… Spa!

Rome, Italy

The three hours in the spa was time well spent. It was quiet and relaxing. And I have really come to enjoy a cold plunge.

We started with the mud room. At first we were confused, we thought the big pipe nozzles on the wall were to dispense mud but that was to clean off the mud. We had to go to reception to get a cup of mud per person. Wiped it on and relaxed all muddy outside of Rome.

We used all the amenities… the salt room, hot sauna, steam room, dry sauna, hot tub, pool and of course the cold plunge. We both had a nap on the heated marble… which wasn’t hot enough… IMHO.

From those we have talked to, the trip to Rome was hot and sweaty… and long. We made the right decision.

Test Kitchen - Visit 2

Test Kitchen - Visit 2

Civitavecchia

This is the second trip to test kitchen so a fresh menu for us. It changes ever few days and the menu we had on Monday was the same one we had last year on the Greece cruise.

Mushroom: this was delicious. It was a creamy and spreadable for toast. It was made from 4 types of mushrooms. So good and looked to pretty.

The other dishes were just as good… my least fav was the scallops. I’m not a fan of seaweed. So half Japanese I know.

We sat next to a lovely couple from Norway and another couple on the other side from Kentucky.
